Italy: Minister Mara Carfagna, favourable to burqa ban law in Italy

MILAN, ITALY - FEBRUARY 11: Italian Minister ...Image by Getty Images via @daylifeFrom Mara Carfagna's blog:
In Italia there is no "burqa emergency" as in other countries. But that doesn't make the problem of women forced to wear it and isolated as a result, less important. The burqa represents the negation of the rights of women and their subjugation, it causes exclusion and prevents the integration: for this reason it should be kept well away from the borders of our country.
In this sense, I support a law that, given the steady increase of migration and the emergence in Europe, should be "preventive". I therefore hope that Parliament, after the stimulus came from France, decides to continue and complete the discussion of the bill prohibiting the use of the burqa in public places in Italy.
Fini, the Speaker of the House, seems to agree.
"It is (necessary) because of the value of our Constitution on the dignity of women, who can not be subjected to violence or imposed behaviour by different hierarchies than the law."
