Spain: Moroccan women and two sons, killed by father

The bodies of two children found dead yesterday in an apartment in Tarragona next to his mother were found buried in the bathtub, under the woman's body, sources have informed research.
Was this an honor killing?
The Police found the dead Sunday night in his home a woman, 26, of North African origin, and their two children, ages 2 and 6 years in the maritime district of Tarragona, and is looking for her husband, who had a restraining order, as the main suspect in the triple murder.
The woman's body appeared about 20 hours ago, while the children's bodies were found three hours later and under his mother, covered with cement and plaster, and in an advanced state of decomposition.
These sources indicate that the suspect committed the triple murder on Monday night, and hen the suspect fled, possibly to Morocco, where they had come from.

According to the data from the autopsy, the woman was beheaded with a knife, as the eldest daughter, while this hypothesis still has to be confirmed in the case of two-year-old child, whose post-mortem exam is scheduled for today.

Spain: "Extremist" imams' ideology blamed on "disorganized Islam", according to El País

"We can say I worked as shepherd," he smiles. "I was in charge of a herd of goats in northern Morocco." Until he crossed the Straits and settled in the province of Tarragona. Unemployed, handicapped by the lack of training and a chronic disease for many years improvised direction of prayers in several mosques in the vicinity of Valls and Torredembarra. Rachid H. worked as an imam. "Not really, but I know Islam better than others", said after admitting that no studies that Muslim countries call for the task.

What kind of prayers were performed by this improvised imam? "I talked about everything: the relationship between men and women, life's problems," he says. Witnesses say those prayers castigated women and young Muslims who were related to people outside this belief. Rachid denies without elaborating. But at home, he stores magazines, recordings and videos that shed some clue to his speeches. The material supports that an adulterous wife should be punished with death and supports other repressive behaviors on the role of women relative to men, according to the report of the register details of the property conducted by the Autonomous Police in 2009. Rachid, who asked not to reveal his name for his legal situation, only occasionally leads prayers, due to his poor state of health and also because he is on probation after being charged with promoting violence linked to radical Salafism, Islam's ultra-conservative current.

Spain: Mosques have increased by five in the Balearic Islands

The number of mosques has increased fivefold in the Balearic Islands in recent years. In 2005 there were only six mosques in the islands and is now accounted for 30, as shows the registration of religious communities in the Ministry of Justice. The most important municipalities of the Balearic Islands have already a temple to practice Islam and Islamic groups now want also to have cemeteries to bury their dead by Muslim rites. For this reason, they plan to apply for land to the municipalities.
The real expansion of mosques has occurred since 2006, being the year 2008 when opened more Islamic centers were opened in the islands, especially in Mallorca. In most cases the faithful themselves have decorated the places with Arab tapestries. The faithful have also chosen a magnet in order to fulfill their religious obligations every Friday, the day of worship.
The reasons that Islamic groups give for the significant increase of places of worship in the municipalities is that gradually and over the years, Muslims have settled and integrated, losing the fear of showing religious affiliation. Many of the faithful flocked to nearby towns or Palma to pray, but over the years they have decided to launch their own temples in the towns where they reside.
Francisco José Giménez, president of Mallorca's Lliga Musulmana and representative of the Islamic Platform states that "Muslim groups of municipalities were reluctant at first to set up their mosques, but once you have settled have changed their way of seeing things and even people of Mallorca has helped  offering some places". Islamic organizations complain that at a regional level there is no a group that unites the entire Muslim community.
In 2005, on the island of Mallorca, there were only two mosques in Palma, one in sa Pobla and another in Manacor. Now there are centers of Islamic worship in Inca, Lloseta, Pollença, Alcúdia, Felanitx, Maria de la Salut, Muro, Santa Margalida, Soller, Vilafranca, Ses Salines, Inca, Santanyi, Porreres or Campos.
The Lliga Musulmana and the Islamic Council of Islands, who is chaired by Lounis Meziani, think one step further. Since mosques are already implemented in most counties, they have decided to ask the councils to provide land for the construction of Islamic cemeteries. It turns out that the Police Act which governs Islands' Mortuaries prohibits the burial of the deceased without coffins. Muslims do not use them and their religion requires burial in contact with soil, incineration is considered an act of selfishness. Mallorca cemeteries are not eligible to meet this ritual.
At the moment, they only have an area within the municipal cemetery in Palma for about 40 corpses. The municipality of the capital and has informed them that it has no more land to expand this space. In this situation, they are thinking of going through the villages of the islands with the aim they are assigned to build enclaves where Muslim cemeteries.

Spain: "Burqa ban hasn't caused radicalization", Lérida's Major says

The mayor of Lleida, Àngel Ros, said yesterday in an interview to El món a RAC1 that the Muslim community in Lleida "isn't in any process of radicalization" after the prohibition, to women wearing the full Islamic veil, of entering municipal facilities. The ban, which also extends to other objects that cover their faces like masks and helmets, has been accepted even by some of the Muslim community. According to Ros, "this has been a clear sign that not everything can be allowed in the integration process."

... the socialist leader believes that "immigration should be controlled because the welfare state can not assume all", while generating "activity and wealth in countries from where immigration comes from."
"Immigrants must accept the roles of the host society" and understand that "go with the face covered in a civic center is not a sign of coexistence," he said.
Source.

Back in July, he told the Islamic community that the Major's office wasn't obliged to give religious communities temples, after the closure of the Mosque from Nord street. Local police have counted 1,200 people going to the mosque, while its capacity was of only 240. "It's "obvious" that if they want to pray at a mosque, the community must meet the conditions and legal regulations", he added.

The Salafist imam who run the mosque, Abdelwahab Houzi, said that he felt he was being persecuted.

Spain: Muslims protest Bishop's petition not to call Cordoba's Cathedral as a "Mosque"

They say "Muslims defend Spanish and European values".
The Bishop of Cordoba, Bishop Demetrio Fernandez, wrote this weekend's edition of ABC Córdoba, that Córdoba Cathedral has been a Catholic house of worship for eight centuries, "declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, which is open only the Catholic faith.
The prelate also noted that "the Catholic community of Cordova has been involved in its maintenance" and "celebrates every day the mysteries of the Christian faith" in it:
"When the Muslims arrived in Cordoba in 711, the place was already a sacred place. It was the ancient Basilica of San Vicente Martyr, which was destroyed to build the mosque.
King Fernando III the Saint came out of blood in the city on June 28, 1236 and ordered to consecrate the temple which was built as a mosque, and was saved from destruction by the good King Fernando negotiations with the occupying Muslims, who wanted to destroy it before surrendering. "
Therefore, Bishop Fernandez believes that the term "mosque" in the signs to the city are wrong. The bishop of the city claims to be called to the scene as it is 800 years: the Cathedral of Cordoba

Spain: more on the expansion of Islamism

Only a few days before the start of the school year, the debate on Islamic headscarves in schools will continue and this will be hardened by petitions to prohibit the burqa. But the discussions on these kinds of symbols could also get radicalized in the coming months, just as it seems that the traditional or fundamentalist versions of Islam sticklers are growing fast in Spain. A strange situation, the experts say, in contrast with the religious attitude and behavior that prevails among the urban middle classes in countries like Syria, Lebanon, Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan. This is the case of the Syrian president's wife, Asma al-Assad, who came to Spain in July. Perhaps impressed by the debonair and European looks of Asma, a woman who has modern looks, wears short dresses and trousers, swims and rides a bike, and seems the same as the president, a reporter asked if that that was normal in her country, which she replied to that it was "a mirror of Syrian society."
Islam In Spain also differs. Judging from positions that we can read on Islamic groups' webs in Spain, the manner in which they responded to hijab or burqa bans or the attitudes of some imams, it doesn't seem that Asma al-Assad is the prototype of the female Muslim Spain. Even among Spanish converts (between 35,000 and 40,000 people practice a moderate Islam). "What is not clear," says Fernando Bravo, TEIM (International Mediterranean Studies Workshop) of the Autonomous University of Madrid, "is whether this apparent spread of a more traditional Islam, even a fundamentalist one, is due to an increase in religiosity or an attitude of claims arising from the feeling, stronger in Europe than in their countries, that their identity is threatened".

Spain: Islamic Center accepts to move mosque

Torrent's Islamic Center has agreed with the neighbors of Nicholas Andreu, at a meeting orchestrated by the Office of Mayor of the City, paralyzing the work being undertaken in a building on Calle San Ernesto to convert it into a mosque and find another location that satisfies all parties.

For seven years, Muslims have come to the headquarters of Torrent's Islamic center located in a room of just 120 square feet of Nicholas Andreu Street and had never had any problems with neighbors. However, the growing number of faithful forced many to stay in the street to pray at the designated days of the Muslim calendar.

Therefore, the Islamic Center sought and rented a closer and more extensive than could accommodate smoothly to 200 or 300 worshipers. This is a warehouse located in the basement of a building on Rue Saint Ernesto, in the same neighborhood. However, this new location seemed to disturb the neighbors who claimed, from their Association, that the street is very narrow, there are parking problems and that there are two schools close so that, at peak times, it can be to collapse.

The makers of the Islamic Center, meanwhile, do not understand the complaints recalling that during seven years there has been no notable incidents and that the relocation was done precisely to avoid nuisance to neighbors. But the desire to avoid a conflict with the neighbors has led to the Hall to mediate in the negotiation between both parties to reach a consensual solution.

Although the Muslim Association had already begun work on the ship rented by pulling some walls, has reached agreement with the neighbors to paralyze the work and find another location that would satisfy all parties.

The mayor of the municipality, Maria José Català, has acknowledged being "satisfied" with the outcome of the negotiations as "the reference of the government team has been at all times comply with current legislation and the welfare of neighbors."

"We had the cooperation of locals who have understood from the outset that the best option was to work with the government team for the proper resolution of this conflict," he said.

Barcepundit compares the treatment that Spanish MSM is doing of Ground Zero mosque and this one: "In Ground Zero's affair, everybody has been giving their opinion: Islamophobes, racists, intolerants, scared shitless, imperialists, bloody invaders of Islamic lands, blablabla... The polemic has been on the TV news opening. We will see what they say regarding this affair".

Narco-terrorism: FARC and Al-Qaeda inSouth America

Three suspected al-Qaeda associates who were apprehended in West Africa by U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents during an international anti-drug operation, were extradited to New York and appeared in federal court in Manhattan earlier this year, according to reports obtained by the National Association of Chiefs of Police's Terrorism and Narcotics & Dangerous Drugs committees.

The operation confirms the suspicions of terrorism experts that al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups are involved in narcotics trafficking to fund their terror operations.

The suspects -- Oumar Issa, Harouna Toure and Idress Abelrahman -- were charged with conspiracy to commit acts of narco-terrorism and conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization after they allegedly agreed to transport as much as 1,000 kilos of cocaine. Allegedly, the drugs were earmarked for western European countries and the United States.

The cocaine interdiction and arrests occurred along the traffickers' favorite route through West Africa to North Africa that serves as a launch point for export to Europe. The suspects were taken into custody after an intense undercover investigation in which informants and agents posed as Colombian narco-terrorists who claimed they shared hatred for the United States with the African suspects.

According to the NACOP report, Colombian drug kingpins use the same transshipment techniques in Africa that they've successfully used in Latin America. The Colombian traffickers' utilized al-Qaeda's protection services in order to make certain shipments arrived at their destinations.

DEA officials report that in this case they were able to infiltrate the drug operation during the negotiations phase. The undercover DEA agents and informants indicated they were associated with the Colombia terrorist group FARC and could protect the shipment from West Africa to North Africa and ultimately to Spain.

Issa, Toure and Abelrahman claim to be from Mali, but their nation of origin is yet unknown.

Iran: Spanish journalist expelled

Iranian officials have canceled today the residence of the correspondent of El País in Tehran, Angeles Espinosa, who has been given two weeks to leave the Islamic Republic. The move is further evidence of the nervousness of the regime against any criticism. Espinosa, who was credited to work in Iran for five years, was arrested in Qom last July when he went to interview Ahmad Montazeri, the son of the dissident Grand Ayatollah Montazeri, who died last year, and since then authorities had withdrawn the journalist card.
"Journalists have no freedom to travel outside Tehran. We must apply for permission and I never would have obtained for that interview," admits Espinosa. However, after a severe reprimand those responsible for the Office of Foreign Press gave it that recover your card when she return from vacation.
Back in Teheran the journalist tried to regain her accreditation, but instead, she was deprived of her passport for three weeks. All foreigners residing in Iran need an exit visa to leave the country and Espinosa was unable to be stamped with the seal, which kept it in a troubling limbo. Until yesterday, when they finally surrendered her passport with the residence permit canceled and an order to leave Iran before Oct. 24th.
"Nobody has given me any explanation. Since returning from my vacation, the General Director for Foreign Press has refused to see me and the new head of the office made me understand that he could not help me, that the orders came from the other side" Espinosa said. "Through others, I have been informed that the interview with Montazeri, in which he criticized the Supreme Leader, has been the drop that overflowed the glass, but they were already very upset with my work since the last elections and El País campaign in defense of Sakineh Ashtiani.
The sentence by stoning imposed on that woman has mobilized the international community. Iran, one of the few countries that still maintains the stoning in its criminal code, has tried unsuccessfully to neutralize this new blow to its already tarnished image.
"The level of tolerance of criticism has been greatly reduced since the arrival to the presidency of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad," said Espinosa. Last year, following protests that the Iranians were his controversial re-election, Iran also expelled the BBC correspondent and urged the departure of the envoys who had come to cover the elections. Since then the Govt has given visas sparingly and censorship has grown exponentially internal.
There are no reformist newspapers in the streets and at least fifty Iranian journalists in prison, which according to Reporters Without Borders makes Iran the biggest prison for reporters. Although initially many independent journalists took refuge in the blogs, the regime has also increased control of the internet and imprisoned numerous bloggers. A few days ago, Hossein Derakhshan, known as the father of blogging, was sentenced to 19 years and six months in jail. Another well-known blogger, Hengame Shahidi, has been denied necessary medical care in prison.

Spain: Platform for Catalonia's leader is not Wilders

Whatever Mr. Anglada says about it:
One thing is that we agree with some statements from the anti-Islamic leader of Platform for Catalonia, Josep Anglada, and quite another that we have to swallow the rest of his anti-libertarian message. In case anyone does not know what the fuss is about, here I copy a few excerpts from PXC's political program, which is available on its website:
"The market's despotism consists in the exploitation of everything without limits and in considering the meaning of life the accumulaton by consumers of goods of all kinds. It is also clear that this project is doomed due to its materialistm because the planet's resources are limited and life as we know it will have to change, whether we like it or not.
Traditional politicians, bound hand and foot to the economic powers, can not stop this train of consumption that advances unstoppingly towards nothingness. The ecological problem demonstrates the radical difference between consumerism and the welfare state. Or  we stop uncontrolled consumption or we end up welfare, which is a complex concept that also encompasses the spiritual life of man as inseparable from nature.
The liberal rule of the labor market, with unstable and precarious contracts, prevents the access to housing for many young people who aspire only to raise a family and educate their children. (...)
Therefore, it is the economic liberalism which promotes the inability of founding families and the consequent decrease in the birth rate, which is then offset by importing immigrants. "
This is obviously a Falangist ie fascist (the organic ingredient is very characteristic) speech, which shows that, in fact, Anglada has not budged from when he was the man of Blas Pinar (a Franco staunch supporter) in Catalonia.
And incidentally, it also shows that, definitely, Enrique de Diego has lost its way, to join him.
Let us leave aside for now the treatment of the news that lends El Mundo, always wanting to be more politically correct than El País. The truth is that, for once, the prevailing political correctness is right when he branded as Josep Anglada of far-right extremer, but as usual, they do so strictly for wrong reasons. The pseudoprogresism rejects what it calls Islamophobia, which is precisely the only part of speech PXC space, with relevant qualifications. But is unable to recognize the anti-libertarian core of its ideology, because the right-wing socialism is a mirror too uncomfortable for left-wing socialism, whether or not it is implicit.
Geert Wilders, which condemns the expansion of Islam in the Netherlands since the beginning clearly from a libertarian perspective, is the very opposite, to our knowledge, of Josep Anglada, who denounces immigration from the most shameless populism, resorting to the fallacy that foreigners steal jobs to the locals, but incidentally he also spell out some truths. When from certain discourses (both left and right collectivist) people put them in the same bag, they make the same gross pseudoprogresism maneuver, which ranks within the extreme right people like Esperanza Aguirre (President of Autonomous Community of Madrid) and José María Aznar. And this confusion only benefits, as always, the illibertarian of all parties.
Source.

These guys are basically Franco supporters who have found a "market segment" in attacking Muslims, more than Islam. This is another difference with Wilders. The latter has been a very hard critic of the Qu'ran and Islam but has always said that he doesn't have anything against Muslims. But PxC leaders are asking for the expulsion of all Muslims in Spain, whether they are actually extremists or not. In fact, De Diego, a journalist with a curious way of always being in the wrong place at the wrong time, has actually given a speech (it is now an "only invited" readers' blog) which ends "For a Christian Spain", something which doesn't seem very accurate to me.

Some readers will tell me that I'm naive and that all Muslims are a sort of covered traitors. Well, we have here several extremist imams, who have been investigated by the police for years. They are supporting jihad, punish little girls if they don't get covered, have Islamic police to prevent Muslims from selling alcohol in their shops, hate non-Muslims, etc. It would be actually very accurate to ask for the immediate expulsion of these guys and supporters, who are most of them "Maghrebies" (Moroccan or Algerian) and some of them had gone to Saudi Arabia to "study".

But there are Spanish "original" people who have converted to Islam. They can't be expelled even in the case that they are actually preaching all those things (they are none of the main Islamist  imams who are doing this to my knowledge). And the same that in other famous cases (Abu Hamza, to name one), there are others who are living under threat from those "imams" because they dared to tell the police what was going on in their mosques.

The problem, from my point of view (and I can be wrong, of course), is that Western countries should be very firm in applying the law, but can't leave the laws aside. Stopping Muslim immigration could be a solution but actually the only solution is to show extremists (whatever their number or their basis), that the law is going to be applied fully and without hesitation, something that now is not done (i.e.: polygamy, for example, had been accepted by Govts despite it is a crime in European legislations).

Spain: "Spain wasn't conquered by the Moors, but by the Joooozzz"

"Catholics are terrorists and accomplices of rape". "Spain was invaded by the Jews, not Muslims." This was said Wednesday in an anti-Catholic and anti-Jewish rally in the auditorium of the University of Valladolid (UVA). At that meeting, which lacked only in insults to Blacks and Asians, a buffoon (called Leo Bassi, right) mocked the signs of illness and old age who suffered (the late Pope) John Paul II. Three months ago the government fined Intereconomía not insulting, because they criticized the march of 'gay pride'. But Intereconomía is Catholic and right-wing, of course. Things change if the left insults and slander Catholics and Jews and mocks a deceased elderly person. In that case even offers the auditorium of a public university to launch better insults. By the way: Is this what the left means by "education for citizenship"?

Incidentally, and considering the serious crimes charged upon us, are we to assume he wants to see all the Catholics in prison? Or does he prefer for us something more progressive and which does not require testing for trapping the divergent, as a gulag or a torture chamber? I say this because accussing of false crimes to an entire social group is a typical practice of many totalitarian groups, and has often been a precursor to crack down on members of this social group.

On the other hand, I wonder what following acts will be authorized by the University of Valladolid for these facilities paid for with public money, ie, taxes paid, among others, Catholics and Jews insulted and maligned at the rally. Will the program include a cross burning by members of the anti-Catholic and anti-Semitic also Ku Klux Klan? Will they present a new edition of "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion", a talk in which blame the Jews of being the cause of all evil and wanting to rule the world? Or maybe there will be a meeting in which they will made a mockery of the disabled? What will be the next lecture of vileness, hatred and intolerance provide this University will provide?

What is clear is that neither the University will consent nor these leftist groups will convene a meeting to insult, slander and make fun of Muslims. Faced with an orgy of insults to Muslims like the one on Wednesday launched against Jews and Catholics (which I seem as reprehensible as of yesterday), the left would be the first to air allegations of racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia and fascism as we have seen many times before with much less strong adjectives thrown from certain sites against the followers of Mohammed. The case is that almost all countries are democracies from the Judeo-Christian tradition - will this be what bothers you the fool? - while in many Muslim majority countries to certain persons are hanged for being gay, and some women the stoning for adultery. But that does not seem to matter much to some leftists, who feel very comfortable with radical Islamism that shares their rejection of Western Judeo-Christian roots.
Source.

Precisely the fact that these insults were made from a PUBLIC University, paid by every Spanish citizen, including those who were actually deeply insulted, is the difference with the Mohammed cartoons, which were published by a PRIVATE newspaper.

History: Lepanto

12,000 Christian slaves were freed after the battle. The Mediterranean was freed from Turkish-funded pirates.  Thanks to the Holy See, Spain, Venice, Genoa, Order of Malta and the Duke of Savoy.

As you would probably know, the Holy League was commanded by Don Juan de Austria, below.

Probably, you don't know that in this battle, Miguel de Cervantes, the author of Don Quijote de la Mancha, was hurt in a hand and was unable to use it for the rest of his life. He said that the battle had been the highest time the centuries saw.

Lastly, this day is Our Lady of the Rosary (for Catholics), named after this battle. In the Letanies of the Rosary, another one is added: Auxilium Christianorum, that is, the One that helps the Christians (oh, yes, please....).

Spain: Burqa'd 18-year-old Sumaya can't listen to music, her husband says

And of course, the burqa is not really bad, as it has holes to let the air in..

Anyway, I know why he doesn't wear a burqa: he is so ugly I doubt really any woman in her senses would look at him. From Diario de Navarra.es:
The black burqa hides the face of a young Moroccan, 18, called Sumaya. Sohaib sleeps in his arms. Her baby. He was born in Tudela, on Wednesday September 22nd, at five in the afternoon. Right of Sumaya, is Benaomar Rachid, 33, her husband. Rachid has not hesitated to answer this newspaper's questions and explain why his wife has to live under a burka.
On Saturday, September 25, Said, 12, and his brother Hamza, 7, waited impatiently beside the gate that guards the village mosque. Said explains, the weekends, the Muslim children of the city and the region come to study the Koran and learn to read Arabic. Although Said was born in Morocco, is expressed with a local accent. "What are you a journalist? Why do you want to interview the imam Mustafa?" Said asks and answers a frantic pace. "My father works on site. I want to be a policeman." Hamsa is impatient at the delay of the magnet and starts throwing stones at the gate. "It is showering," says Said. "He can not hear because the mosque is very large, has five doors," apology to the magnet. The minutes pass. Said adds the release. This time, the stones fall inside a courtyard.

The interior is a ship enabled with two carpeted rooms, the largest for men's prayers, on the other, for women's. Villafranca's neighbors believe that is one of the largest mosques in northern Spain. Across the walls are the desks and blackboard, where small study. "It's cold!" says Hamza. The minutes pass. The imam does not make an appearance. At that time, a Moroccan appears. Mohamed tells the boys that the magnet is traveling in Morocco, says he is managing his wife's papers to bring. Hamsa Said and attentive listening and translating. Then, playing away to an irrigation canal. The journalist took the opportunity and asked the newcomer by Rachid Benaomar and his wife. "They live in front of the Civil Guard barracks," says Mohamed, "but he is not the imam," corrected.

The uneasiness among the residents of this town of three thousand inhabitants began in April. The locals could not believe it. They had just crossed the street with the silent pace of a "faceless woman". And the concern evolved into fear and worry. The deputy mayor of Villafranca, Enrique Marín
San Miguel acknowledges that it surprised them. "Never before has there been a similar case despite the increase in Muslim population in the area which reaches now 22%," he says. "We are concerned. Do not know if this will go further. That woman lives in a prison. Do not you see the eyes. The municipalities can not prohibit the burqa. It should be done by the Government of Navarra."

Spain: counter-terrorism report alerts about possible suicide attacks

La Gaceta:
"The process started months ago with the arrival of former Islamist prisoners of Guantanamo Bay. But we must add to that, the continued rise of Salafism as a doctrine which is gaining in significance throughout the Spanish geography. Moreover, the threat is seriously affected by the release of jihadist prisoners, not just those who have served time in Spain, but of those who are acquitted following their arrest for acts related to jihadist activity, "says a report by the responsible for fighting terrorism.
Those acquitted by the High Court the report refers to are Spanish national Gonzalo López Royo (aka "salaam1420", above) and Morocccan Fath Allah Sadaqa, arrested by the Guardia Civil after finding that these two men ennobled Islamic jihad over the Internet. The Third Division of the High Court, presided by Judge Alfonso Guevara and speaker Gregorio Ruiz Polanco, recognized as a fact that "the statements made by the two defendants were intended as a tribute to a Chechen guerrilla militant, devoting their website to all Muslims who die and suffer at the hands of the infidels, the desire to transform Spain again in Caliphate (and) their call for jihad and martyrdom (...) The accused Fath Allah Sadaqa uploaded to Youtube two videos, one with reference to three leaders of Al Qaeda, and another image of an attack against a U.S. vehicle in Iraq. "
The resolution of last June 21st, resolved to acquit both accused of "the crime of praising terrorism and contempt for the victims of terrorism with all the inherent favorable pronouncements such absolution has" .

Spain: Another local council bans the burqa inside its premises

Público:
Galapagar has become this October the first town in Madrid that vetoes the use inside the local council's offfice of both burqa and niqab, garments that cover the face and prevent the identification of individuals.

This was agreed at the last plenary session in July and now the mayor of Galapagar, Daniel Pérez Muñoz, approved by decree the performance of this agreement.

The proposal forbids the use of full veils (burqa or niqab) in municipal buildings and facilities of the Galapagar, and any other garments that hide the face and hinder the identification of the person and visual communication, "as it is a discrimination that is not covered by freedom of religion, being contrary to the people's dignity and to real and effective dignity of men and women".

Under this decree, people in charge of the accesse to the council have been informed that its fulfillment will be required to access control of all municipal buildings and facilities, as well as the heads of various departments of the City Hall.

Spain: judge releases Dehbi, forbids him to go abroad

Judge Santiago Pedraz yesterday released Dehbi Mohamed Omar, a US citizen of Algerian origin, was arrested Monday in Esplugues (Barcelona), accused of funding Al Qaeda.

The magistrate heard evidence and accepted his explanation: that there were no recorded movements in his bank accounts which could prove that he has funded Islamic terrorism. The judge takes into account that banks "have not informed, despite their legal obligation" about those movements. Also the detainee admitted that he had known Taufik Mizi, wanted for collaborating with Al Qaeda, for nearly25 years and lent him €1,600 to buy clothes. He added that he severed all relations with him when he learned about Mizi's terrorist links. Despite these statements, the Judge has however imposed Dehbi the obligation of presenting himself daily in a police station and has forbidden him to go abroad.

Somalia: Expansion of AU Force studied at Madrid meeting

We'll see what results this meeting has. Expatica:
Representatives of 45 nations and international bodies met in Madrid Monday to consider plans to strengthen an African Union peacekeeping force in war-torn Somalia.
The AU force, known as AMISOM, comprises about 7,200 troops, and the meeting of the UN-backed International Contact Group on Somalia, which is to conclude on Tuesday, will "look into a possible reinforcement," Spain's foreign ministry said in a statement.
Stepping up the fight against maritime piracy in waters off the coast of Somalia and finding ways to boost support for the country's transitional government will be among the other topics discussed, it added.
Delegates from 45 nations and international organisations, including the United States and the European Union, are taking part in the meeting which was closed to the press.
Somali President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and the top United Nations envoy to the country, Augustine Mahiga, are among the participants.
Ahmed warned in a speech before the UN General Assembly on Saturday that Somalia is "a weak link" in the fight against international terrorism and urged nations to continue to assist in training its forces and supporting the AU peacekeeping contingent.

Spain: Hackers crack website with striking set of images on heroin addicts in Kabul

Ataque informtico contra unas fotos de heroinmanos de KabulU - Noticias Nuevas tecnologas - e-notcies (Translation: T&P)
A group self-called Islamic Ghosts Team (Islamic Ghosts) has cracked the website of the Sixth Biennial of Photography Miserachs Xavier de Palafrugell, leaving the all-black page with a single entry: the name of this group of crackers.
The biennial, which opened Sept. 11 and closes tomorrow, has eight exhibition halls spread over different municipality, including the photographer Alfonso del Moral (Valladolid, 1977), which presents a striking set of images on heroin addicts in Kabul.
Perhaps these photographs led the Islamic Ghosts Team to attack the web of the biennial, which at the time of this writing, is still hacked. A search on Google can see that the same group has carried out similar actions against other sites, including the ones of the Granollers Institute and the presidency of the Republic of Guyana.

Spain: Alleged AQIM terrorist arrested in Esplugues del Llobregat

Debhi Mohammed Omar
National Police agents have arrested a person for his alleged links to international terrorism. The arrest took place yesterday at 12 noon at the Street Ronda in Canigó Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona), when Debhi Mohamed Omar, the suspected terrorist, left his home. He is a 43-year-old of Algerian origins and US nationality.

Investigations have linked him to crimes of terrorist funding in the Sahel for Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) and crimes of fraud to the Spanish Public Finance and Social Security, and forgery.

The arrest comes after an investigation conducted by the General Information Office and coordinated by the Central Court of Instruction No. 1 of the National Court.

According to police investigations, Debhi Mohamed Omar sent significant amounts of money, either by bank transfer or by human couriers, to an Algerian citizen living in his country, named Toufik Mizi, who is fleeing the Spanish judiciary since 2006 for allegedly belonging to a terrorist organization.

The two suspected terrorists had ties since 2003 and Debhi Omar's activity consisted mainly in bleaching and sending part of the money obtained to Algerian AQIM cells, hiding under the cover of fictious trade.

The money, in quantities that exceeded €60,000, was sent to Toufik Mizi, allowing its subsequent delivery to AQIM cells to optimize the purchase of material used in their terrorist activities.

In the house where the searches were performed, police have seized three laptop computers, hard drives, invoices and companies' constitution documents and numerous banking documents and other related research. It has also involved a luxury car and a pleasure boat, which he had anchored in Badalona's port.
Money, boat, luxury car... This Allah's warriors are not what they used to... Must be a change in their attitudes after the update in the number of paradise virgins...

The detainee led an "apparently normal" life, although he didn't engage at all with neighbors, according to inhabitants of the estate.
