Tunisia: Black singer will tackle racism in his autobiography

Tunisian singer Salah Misbah said he suffers from discrimination in his country because of his dark skin color and announced his plans to tackle the issue of racism in his upcoming autobiography.

Scripts written for Tunisian cinema and T.V. hardly have place for dark-skinned characters and actors, Salah Misbah told a Tunisian radio station.

...Misbah said he intended to tackle the issue of racial discrimination in his autobiography which he will call “No brother, no friend… not as Arabs, not as Muslims.”

Misbah, who was once sentenced to jail for assaulting an officer in the Tunisian army, said he is constantly harassed for his skin color and extremely improper racial slurs are hurled at him, the most common of which is calling him “a dirty slave.”

“Racial discrimination does not stop at street harassment, but also extends to the entertainment industry in Tunisia.”

Misbah recounted a story when he held a part at his house to celebrate the release of his second album and one of the journalists recommended that he changes his skin color like Michael Jackson.

“He said that this is how I can guarantee having fans in the Arab world.”

UK: In Tower Hamlets vote, Islamist "Islamic Forum of Europe" can be the real winner

Lutfur Rahman
Lutfur Rahman was sacked by the Labour Party last month as its candidate for mayor of Tower Hamlets amid deep concerns about his links with a Muslim supremacist group, the Islamic Forum of Europe (IFE), and a number of powerful local businessmen.
Mr Rahman also signed up entire families of "sham" paper Labour members – some of whom do not even support the party – to win nomination as Labour's candidate.
Mr Rahman is now running as an independent and his supporters say he is "hopeful" of victory.
Helal Abbas
"Things look very good," said one of his major business backers, Shiraj Haque, a millionaire restaurateur.
Labour sources said the contest between Mr Rahman and their new candidate, Helal Abbas, was "extremely close" and would depend on turnout in Thursday's election.
Unlike a conventional leader, a directly-elected mayor has almost complete power over a council's finances and cannot be controlled, checked or sacked by councillors.
Tower Hamlets moved from a conventional leader system to a mayoralty this year as a result of a campaign spearheaded by the IFE.
In secret filming earlier this year, Abu Talha, an IFE activist, told an undercover reporter for The Sunday Telegraph and Channel 4's Dispatches: "The mayor is going to have a lot more control. That's why we need to get someone, one of our brothers, in there. Which we will do."

Some people that support Lutfur Rahman are racists and anti-Semites (what a surprise!).

Chomsky: "Europe won't accept Turkey because of racism"

Chomsky: EU won't accept Turkey because of racism:
European racism is the main reason why Turkey will not be accepted into the EU, says Noam Chomsky according to Turkish newspaper, Today's Zaman.

“Europe can claim with some justification that Turkey has not satisfied all of the human rights conditions. On the other hand, I don’t really think this is the reason. …I think it is plain racism,” Chomsky said in an interview with the newspaper on Sunday.

...Chomsky added that there are worse human rights violators among European countries and pointed to Britain which participated in the war in Iraq.

"Has Turkey done anything like that? On the contrary, it refused to participate in the invasion. That’s a much higher level of observance of human rights and even international law...I always felt Europe was more racist,” he said.

The MIT professor visited İstanbul on Friday to participate in an international conference on the freedom of expression, and said he had seen great improvements in Turkey's approach to human rights, especially in its treatment toward the Kurds.
So, now it results that after 500 years of Ottoman dominion over the Balkans (with the mixture of races and physical types that causes), Europe lets Balkan countries enter the EU and not Turkey but the problem is racism. It's amazing this guy can sell books...

Somalia: implement Sharia Law and foreign troops unwelcome, clerics say

Flag of the Islamic Courts, according to this ...Flag of Somali Islamic Courts. Image via Wikipedia
This is the Government we are supporting. No Al-Shabab, no Al-Qaeda here:
the Islamic scholars jointly issued a 12 point communiqué that highlights the current scenarios facing Somalia, and condemning many un-Islamic practices used to fuel the escalating conflict and also warning the people.
They called on the Muslims to strictly follow the Islamic way of life and adhere to the ways in which Prophet Muhammad (...) used in reaching out to the population.
Authorities in Somalia were urged to implement the Islamic Shari'ah Law in the areas they control.
The Islamic clerics warned of legitimizing shedding Muslim blood in the "disguise of fighting for Islam" and also tagging a Muslim person as an infidel without taking the due process.
Hey, with the "due process" you can tag a Muslim person as infidel. So imagine someone who is not a Muslim...
"Somalis are Muslims and they need to be calmly corrected in terms of their faith, culture and behavior. So, it is not acceptable for these groups fighting in Somalia to judge each other and other people as apostate," reads the communiqué issued at the conclusion of the Islamic conference in Garowe.
The clerics also agreed that the war that is going on in Somalia is an "incitement"rather than a holy war (jihad), as claimed by the Islamist insurgent factions like Al Shabaab.
The communiqué condemned the presence of foreign troops in the country, saying they are not welcomed by the Somali people. Mogadishu is home to about 5,300 soldiers from Uganda and Burundi who are serving under an African Union peacekeeping mandate.
The presence of foreign troops inside the war-torn country is "dangerous to the religion and socio-political well being of the population," it adds. (Oh, wait, their Muslim "purity" could be contaminated by non-Muslim forigners... Bunch of racists Islamic supremacists...)
Acts of piracy along the Somalia's coastline was also condemned in the communiqué, terming it "dangerous and shameful to Islam" and also degrading the people's way of life.
The Somali Islamic scholars proposed a large reconciliation conference to be held inside Somalia, which would bring together all the Islamic scholars to discuss the way forward in the bid to find a lasting solution for the swelling problems that face Somalia at the moment.
Who would they be reconciled with? Al Shabab?

Has African Union something to say about it? [I think Lybia is now chairing it, so, ... no] Has Ban "I make trips to condemn Israelis but never when it's a Muslim country" Ki-Moon sais something about this "peaceful" communiqué?
